What is polyester yarn and its properties
Polyester is a single important type of synthetic fiber, and is the commercial title of polyester fibers in China. It is a fiber forming polymer made from purified terephthalic acid (PTA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and ethylene glycol (EG) as raw materials through esterification or ester exchange and condensation reaction - polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is spun and disposed of to produce fibers.
Polyester yarn has the following properties
1. High strength, with short fiber strength ranging from 2.6 to 5.7 cN/dtex and high strength fibers ranging from 5.6 to 8.0 cN/dtex. Due to its low moisture absorption, its wet strength is fundamentally the same as its dry strength. The impact strength is 4 times higher than nylon and 20 times higher than viscose fibers.
2. Good elasticity, with elasticity similar to wool. When stretched by 5% to 6%, it can almost fully recover. The wrinkle resistance surpasses other fibers, that is, the fabric does not wrinkle and has good dimensional stability. The elastic modulus is 22-141cN/dtex, which is 2-3 times higher than nylon.
3. Good heat resistance
4. Good water absorption
